If you’re planning to purchase polyester fabric and use it in sublimation printing, you need to make sure that it’s of the highest quality before making your decision. Not all polyester fabric fabrics are created equal, which means that not all of them will produce the same results when used for sublimation printing. That’s why you need to consider several things before making your choice; this article will help you understand what those things are and how to evaluate them properly so that you can make an informed decision about your purchase.
Why Choose Polyester?
Because of polyester’s blend of easy care, durability, and all-season adaptability, this fiber is an ideal candidate for sublimation printing. This fiber is also very versatile and can be used in a wide variety of industries including: fashion, home decor, signage and promotional products. Choose Unisignflex because they are sublimation fabric suppliers that have many years of experience working with this fabric type.

Choosing between Performance Fabrics
Sublimation fabric suppliers offer a number of fabrics suited for sublimation printing. Depending on what you plan to use it for, there are some key factors to keep in mind when choosing your fabric. You want to look at how tightly woven and how soft your fabric is. When thinking about colors, pay attention to their brightness. If you plan on using only one color or two colors then performance polyester is a good choice but if you’re looking for bright colors then Unisignflex might be better because its dyes have been proven not to fade out after being washed as many times as 100 times.
Aftercare Tips and Tricks
There are some other steps you’ll want to take after you’ve finished your print, including washing it on a delicate cycle and air drying (if your dryer is front loading). This can be done by flipping your item inside out and using cold water if desired. It’s also a good idea to wash it alone so that the color doesn’t bleed onto another item of clothing. Once the item is dry, you may notice some static cling.
Poplins, Broadcloths, and Chambrays
You’ll want a fabric that’s mostly composed of polyester so you can sublimate your design. This means it needs to be at least 85% polyester. The most common polyesters are polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and polypropylene (PP). They’re two of the strongest man-made fabrics, with PET coming in just below Kevlar in strength. If you have any trouble deciding which fabric is best for your project, then we recommend chambray as the safest bet because it has natural stretch and flexibility without being too heavy or thick. Poplins and broadcloths also have great versatility because they can easily be pressed into different textures such as cotton lawn or velvet.
Choosing Between Solids and Prints
The most important thing is your personal preference. Whether you prefer solid colors or prints will ultimately depend on the type of product you intend to sublimate. For example, if you’re making bed sheets, then a solid color is preferable. If you’re making a t-shirt or blouse, then prints are likely what you want. We highly recommend visiting a fabric store before ordering and browsing different types of polyester fabric that have potential for sublimation printing before deciding which one is best for your project!
