Your use or purchase of a Barnes and Noble Gift Card, E Gift Card, Gift Certificate, or other stored value product (collectively, “Gift Cards”) indicates your acceptance of these Conditions. All Gift Cards are subject to these Terms & Conditions. Unless otherwise provided by law, whether purchased in-store, online, or via third parties.
Gift Cards at Barnes & Noble can be used at any Barnes & Noble location.
Unless otherwise stated, a Barnes & Noble gift card can be used at any Barnes & Noble location nationwide, as well as on BN.com. They are also redeemable at any B. Dalton Bookseller, Barnes & Noble College, or Book Star location.
Balances on Gift Cards
Maintenance, dormancy, and service costs do not apply to Gift Card balances. Barnes & Noble Gift Cards have no expiration dates.
Keep your gift cards in a safe place.
Make a note of your Gift Card number and PIN. We are not liable for unauthorized Gift Card use. Only proper evidence of purchase & the Gift Card number will be used to replace lost or stolen Barnes and Noble Gift Cards, up to the remaining value.
Call 1-800-THE-BOOK to replace a lost or stolen Gift Card.
Gift cards are not redeemable or refundable for cash, unless as required by law. The total cost of the original load and/or all reloads cannot exceed $2,000 in any 24-hour period. No Gift Card may have an active balance of more than $2,000 at any given time.
They may be used to pay for annual memberships in their program (continuous billing memberships require a valid credit card).
Using a Gift Card to Purchase Non-Books
NOOK Books, single issues of NOOK Newspapers, and NOOK Magazines may all be purchased with gift cards. They can’t be used to pay for subscriptions to the NOOK Newspaper or NOOK Magazine. To buy a NOOK Book, a single-issue NOOK Magazine, or a single-issue NOOK Newspaper using a Gift Card. Click the “Manage Gift Cards for eBooks” link under the “My Account” tab.
If you wish to buy a NOOK Book, NOOK Newspaper, or NOOK Magazine, you’ll need to save a default credit card to your account, even if you’re redeeming a Gift Card. When you purchase a NOOK Book or a single-issue NOOK Newspaper, any available Gift Card balance is used first.
You may be given “rewards” or you may receive rewards.
“Promotional gift cards,” “credits,” “vouchers,” “barnes and noble 25% coupon” or other similar physical or electronic gift cards (collectively, “Promotional Cards”) may be issued from time to time. These Promotional Cards will have the same terms and conditions as the Gift Cards described below, and therefore they may have an expiration date.

Purchases that exceed the amount of the Gift Card require an additional payment to pay the gap. Gift cards purchased online are shipped separately from other purchases.
Barnes & Noble retains the right to place any order it sees fit.
While we do a security check on your order, it may be placed on hold. If your order is impacted, you will be notified by email within two business days. To check the balance of your Barnes & Noble Gift Card, call 1-800-295-3029 toll-free.
The gift card will not be redeemed if the card number is invalid or cannot be identified inside Barnes & Noble systems. We retain the right to limit a single person’s redeeming of Gift Card balances to $1,000 in any period of 30 days.
A Barnes & Noble gift certificate or a Dalton gift card
You could have a B. Dalton gift card or a Barnes & Noble.com gift certificate. Gift cards at B. Dalton Booksellers can be used at any Barnes & Noble or B. Dalton Bookseller shop, as well as online at BN.com. Unlike other gift cards, Barnes & Noble gift certificates have no expiration date.
