The Aadhaar card has now become one of the most important identity proofs. It features a unique 12-digit identification number issued by the UADAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) on behalf of the Government Of India.
From availing benefits under government schemes to applying for jobs, Aadhaar Card is accepted as a proof of identity. You can also link your Aadhaar Card with your driving license with a few easy steps listed below.
Step – 1 Visit your state’s official website or UT’s transport department.
Step – 2 Click on the link for Aadhaar on the homepage.
Step – 3 Select the drop-down menu and select Driving License.
Step – 4 Enter your driving license number on your driving license card and fill in other required details, such as date of birth. Then, click on submit.
Step – 5 Your personal details will show up on the screen, after which you must enter the 12-digit Aadhaar number.
Step – 6 Your identity will be verified using an OTP sent to your linked mobile number.
Step – 7 Once the verification is completed, the linking process will initiate, and your Aadhaar will be linked to your driving license.
It must be noted that the process for linking Aadhaar with a driving license might vary from state to state. One is advised to visit the transport department website of the state or UT for more information on the process.
By linking Aadhaar with a driving license, the government has aimed at curbing the issue of forged driving licenses.
Your Aadhaar holds all your personal information, including biometrics, address proof, and mobile number.
Linking it to the driving license will ensure that only one driving license is issued in an individual’s name.
