Understanding the First Phase of Project Management with Eugene Bernshtam

The work of leading a group of people within the constraints of the policies and procedures of a company towards achieving a specific set target is known as project management. And the person who brings the completion of this task to fruition is known as a project manager such as Eugene Bernshtam. He is a project manager in the US who is a fan of music as well.

Project initiation – the first phase within a project which opens with a project mandate, a document that gives the details of the budget that is allocated and also describes the project’s purpose. This is the stage that gives a broad angle to the project by defining the benefits that can be availed by the project and why the project is needed at all. The second part of this mandate is to identify the problem that can be resolved with the help of this project and determine if it will be resolved by the project at all.

A project manager who decides to take up a project needs to prepare a PID or project initiation document. Some of the things that need to be included are the business case, the scope, goals, and the size of the project. Information on the stakeholders of the project along with the constraints and the probable risks associated are also documented. This document also consists of the whereabouts of the organization indicating who they are, why them, what they do, and everything related to them.

The PID should further contain information on the controls of the project and the way the reporting will be carried out. The criterion for assessing the project and successfully closing it should also be incorporated in PID informs Eugene Bernshtam.

The job of project management is thus not an easy one, it needs a lot of careful planning and dedication and most importantly understanding every little briefing of the client and then guiding them into executing it successfully.
